Our Story
Knotty by Nature started the way most of our favorite things do — by trying something new just for fun.
We gave rug tufting a try one day, just to see what it was all about — and we didn’t expect to love it as much as we did. Picking our designs, choosing our favorite colors, and watching everything come together little by little was surprisingly calming. We walked away feeling creative, proud, and honestly just really happy.
So we kept going.
We practiced. We learned. We made a lot of rugs. Then we showed our kids — who quickly got just as into it as we did. Before long, what started as a creative experiment turned into a family-run studio where we now teach workshops together.
Today, Knotty by Nature is a fun, hands-on space in Santa Clarita where beginners become rug makers, friends gather for something different, and people surprise themselves with what they can create.
We’re proud to be a small, woman-led, veteran family business — but more than anything, we’re proud of the community that’s growing around this craft.
And yes… our favorite moment is still when someone steps back and says,
“Wow — I made that?”
The Experience
Our workshops are designed to feel relaxed, beginner-friendly, and hands-on. Your design is prepared in advance so you can focus on the fun part — learning the tufting process and watching your rug come to life.
